Video Excerpt

Filmed by Mike Fox at The Place. Directed and edited by Darshan Singh Bhuller.

Produced by The Place and Singh Productions. Part of the Gypsy Mixture/Nigerdo DVD.

Nigredo was an alchemist's term for intensely heating metal until it blackened. The dream was that then it would turn into gold....

Jung reinterpreted the word as digging down into your psyche to a dark place from which one could emerge the stronger. This was certainly one of my darker pieces, for just four dancers and pared down to the bone.

First performed the 5 June 2007 at Robin Howard Dance Theatre.
