Philip Glass's Songs from Liquid Days celebrate the immediacy of the non-operatic singing voice, but with intriguingly elusive lyrics by Suzanne Vega and Paul Simon. The Songs have an almost ritual theatrical power and they motivated me to make a dance with flying rapid steps, red-blooded movement that flies through the space but with much intricate detail.

I'd almost forgotten Blow Over, but coming back to it in preparing this website I had the sudden feeling that it might be one of the best dances I ever made. I'm excited to see it again and the terrific way it was performed.
Co-commissioned by Sadler’s Wells and Dance Umbrella. First performed by Richard Alston Dance Company at Sadler's Wells on 2 October 2008.
